Another delightful aspect of my work is conducting my kids at my Flute Choir, the flutists of the Peninsula Youth Orchestra in the Bay Area. I so much enjoy introducing the young flutists to the repertoire that I grew up performing. I really enjoy finding the arrangements and then rehearsing them. As I don’t have children of my own, I consider them all my “flute babies” and I very much adore each one of them. Their Christmas concert this year put everyone in the holiday spirit, with performances of Chinese Dance and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky, March Militaire by Schubert, Canon in D by Pachelbel, and concluded with Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson.
